JOB DESCRIPTION
VDC/BIM ENGINEER
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS
The VDC/BIM Engineer (Virtual Design in Construction/Building Information Modeling) provides modeling expertise and support to estimating, project management, field staff and other disciplines as it relates to a project. The VDC/ BIM Engineer also provides support and expertise to the other members of the engineering team. This position reports directly to the VDC Engineering Manager.
RESPONSIBILITIES
SKILL, KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Perform VDC/BIM coordination with other disciplines
- 3D Modeling in Revit with 2D extractions in Revit to paper
- Prepare detailed system layouts for power, lighting and control systems including all views and dimensions to support fabrication and installation
- Work in conjunction with the electrical foreman, project manager, electrical engineer, and other disciplines to create drawings and models for construction coordination and installation
- Must have Revit experience in order to qualify for this role
- 2-5 years of proven proficiency and experience in Revit 2020 preferred
- 2-3 years minimum experience with an electrical contracting company (preferred) and/or Architectural/ Engineering firm required
- AutoCAD 2020, Navisworks 2020 and Bluebeam 2020 experience a plus
- Autodesk Certified Professional (ACP) in Revit preferred
- Experience in laser scanning of facilities desirable, but not required
- Knowledge of data entry into Trimble Robotics Layout Station is preferred
- Trimble laser scanning knowledge is a plus
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work cohesively with other departments within the company
- Strong organizational skills: ability to manage multiple projects at once and meet deadlines
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, set priorities, and follow projects to completion
- Strong problem-solving skills required
- Ability to travel 10-20% of the time to jobsites in multiple states
