In May of 2023, Superior Electric Great Lakes Company officially acquired Tri-County Electric, located in Saline, Michigan, servicing the Ann Arbor area. Tri-County Electric started in 1971 as a residential electrical construction company and has expanded to include large and complex commercial, industrial, and design-build electrical contracts for over 50+ years.
For Tri-County, a multigenerational, family owned and operated, Local 252 based company, this move was unplanned. For Superior, the expanded market and magnitude of diverse construction opportunities started the dialogue to collaborate. Ultimately, it was the similarities in culture that broke the barriers and began talks between Superior Electric Great Lakes Company and Tri-County Electric. Over the last few years, successful collaborations paved the way to the acquisition by working together on the hospital, higher education, retail, and residential high-rise commercial projects in and around the University of Michigan.
Foundation of deal – the sustainability and opportunity for all employees inherent with the ESOP company structure. Goals – Merge Superior’s resources and Tri-County’s market experience to double the current revenue target, and diversify and expand Superior Enterprise’s portfolio.
The Ann Arbor division will operate under the legal entity name of Superior Electric Tri County (SETRICO). Beth Ann Rentschler will continue in the leadership role at SETRICO alongside Scott Dupuie, a veteran of the SEGLC team as Vice President. Lyle Rentschler, Beth’s husband, will be the Division’s Superintendent. Along with other dedicated and long-time staff members, additional immediate family members include Eric Rentschler, Lyle and Beth Ann’s son, Dan and Laura Roughton, Brother and sister-in-law, Gene Medrea, brother-in-law, and Chris Meyette, nephew.
Welcome to our family Superior Electric Tri County. We all look forward to working together as a team.
